Description	:	George Henry Carter, the well-known fireman, who met an untimely death in the accident early Tuesday morning, had lived in Boone for the past fourteen years. He was but 25 years of age, being born in Tama County, March 28, 1879, and lived there until the fall of 1890, when he moved to Boone with his parents. Read More	George Henry Carter, the well-known fireman, who met an untimely death in the accident early Tuesday morning, had lived in Boone for the past fourteen years. He was but 25 years of age, being born in Tama County, March 28, 1879, and lived there until the fall of 1890, when he moved to Boone with his parents. He had been on the road for four years and was counted among the best firemen in the service; he was a favorite with the engineers and popular with officials over the line. His sad death came as a great shock to the many friends and acquaintances and no more eloquent tribute could be paid to his memory than the expressions of sorrow and heartfelt sympathy of his many associates. Mr. Carter was engaged to be married in September to Miss Margaret Foes, and she with his mother, Mrs. J.M. Carter, and brother and sisters, Harry and Ella of Boone, and Mrs. George Paxton of Montour, besides other relatives are left to mourn. The relatives from abroad who are here to attend the obsequies are Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Carter and son, Vernie, Mrs. Geo. Carter and Henry Carter, grandfather of the deceased, of Glidden, Ia; Miss Belle Carter, Rockwell City; Mrs. Geo. Paxton, Montour; George and Mack Conant, Garwin. The funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10 o'clock from the house and at 10:30 from the Methodist church, under the auspices of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen of which George was a member, Rev. J.B. Harris officiating. The remains will be laid to rest beside those of his father in East Linwood.
