Description	:	George Henry "Hank" Seiler, 95, of Grand Island died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at his home. Hank was born April 17, 1916, at Lincoln to Jacob and Louise (Leider) Seiler. Survivors are: his children, David (Kathy) Seiler of Surprise, Ariz., Jim Seiler of Ovid, Colo., Nancy Focken, Annette (Mike) Luber, all of Grand Island and Kevin (Ruth) Seiler of Fort Collins, Colo.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Read More	George Henry "Hank" Seiler, 95, of Grand Island died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at his home. Hank was born April 17, 1916, at Lincoln to Jacob and Louise (Leider) Seiler. Survivors are: his children, David (Kathy) Seiler of Surprise, Ariz., Jim Seiler of Ovid, Colo., Nancy Focken, Annette (Mike) Luber, all of Grand Island and Kevin (Ruth) Seiler of Fort Collins, Colo.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Hank grew up on the homestead north of Madrid, Neb. As a young man he spent a short time in Denver, Colo., and southern California. When World War II came, he moved to Buffalo, N.Y., and worked for the Martin Aircraft, manufacturing and testing bomber guns for the war. His first wife, Dolores "Dee" Schreiter, followed him there and they were married in Buffalo on May 17, 1941. They moved to Omaha and he worked for Martin-Nebraska continuing in the aircraft industry until they bought a farm nine miles south of Grant. Dee died in May of 1961. Hank married his second wife, Meredith Whitman, on Dec. 23, 1964. They moved into Grant at that time. He continued to farm until it was sold. He had many jobs during and after farming, including bus driver for the Grant Grade School, policeman in Grant, building maintenance at the Grant High School, helped various businesses in Grant, and owned a small appliance repair business. Meredith died in January 1992. Hank moved to Grand Island in 2009. Hank served on the school board of Perkins County Dist. 15, member of the Grant Volunteer Fire Dept., helped maintain the small church he and Meredith attended in Brandon and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Grant. He loved reading, drawing, painting, welding, hunting and road trips, especially the driving and visiting friends, neighbors and family. Hank was preceded in death by his two wives, five brothers and four sisters. Published in The Grand Island Independent on September 15, 2011
