Description	:	George Henry Nodurft immigrated to the United States in 1820 with his father John Henry Nodurft and a brother. They settled in Clermont County, Ohio. There he met Elizabeth Miller and on March 8th, 1827 they were married. In 1830, George and Elizabeth along with their oldest daughter, Catherine, moved to Warren County Indiana to live. In an 1888 letter that was printed in the Warren Republican to friends and family back in Warren County, Indiana, George writes about his life. They settled in Clermont County, Ohio. There he met Elizabeth Miller and on March 8th, 1827 they were married. In 1830, George and Elizabeth along with their oldest daughter, Catherine, moved to Warren County Indiana to live. In an 1888 letter that was printed in the Warren Republican to friends and family back in Warren County, Indiana, George writes about his life. He was a cabin boy to a cook and steward on a steamboat. He towed flat boats down the river. As well, he spun flax in his younger days. He was a steam doctor which he did for more than 20 years. He voted for President Harrison, there is a newspaper article in the Painesville Telegraph, Painesville, Lake County, Ohio that talks about a caravan of 20 plus wagons from Warren County Indiana that went to hear then candidate Harrison give a speech. George was among those present in that caravan. He also hoped to vote for Harrison's grandson who was running in 1888. Through the years, George along with his sons, Richard, William, Jacob, John, and Phillip also created several companies within Warren County. At times, they made cane chairs, fired bricks and tiles. It is believed that one of their chairs is in a museum in Lyons Kansas where some of the family migrated as the West opened up to farmers and others. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Williamsport. No.38, F & A M. Days before his passing, he told his son, Richard about a dream he had had. He dreamed of going back to Warren County and seeing some of his old friends (some had already passed away by the time of his dream). In the dream he told of four white sheets hanging, they were the whitest sheets he had ever seen. There he talked to John Hodges (he had passed away a few months prior).
