Wallace which occurred at his home on Acadia Street shortly after noon on Wednesday removed one of Wolfville's oldest and most highly regarded citizens. Mr. Wallace was born eighty-six years ago in a dwelling which stood on Main Street on the site practically of where is now occupied by "The Palms". As a young man he followed the sea for a time, and later established a grocery business here which he carried on successfully... Wallace which occurred at his home on Acadia Street shortly after noon on Wednesday removed one of Wolfville's oldest and most highly regarded citizens. Mr. Wallace was born eighty-six years ago in a dwelling which stood on Main Street on the site practically of where is now occupied by "The Palms". As a young man he followed the sea for a time, and later established a grocery business here which he carried on successfully for many years. He began business in the store now occupied by Williams & Co., from which he removed to a store nearly opposite and west of where the Evangeline Inn now stands. This building was purchased by Mr. Sanford some years ago, moved back and converted into a garage. He was a conscientious and fair-dealing merchant who had many friends and no enemies. A man of keen intellect and sterling qualities, he occupied a prominent place in the life of the community. For many years he efficiently filled the position of Superintendent of the Baptist Sunday-School,which under his direction had the largest enrollment during any time in it's history. It was said that he made the personal acquaintance of every member totaling at that time over three hundred. In active life he evidenced an interest in all that related to the good of the town and it's people and was a valued and useful member of the Wolfville Baptist Church, St. George's Lodge, A.F. & A.M., and other organizations. Since retiring from business many years ago, Mr. Wallace has lived quietly in his native town, the care of his fine property proving his chief employment. His pleasing personality and cordial manner made him welcome on his visits downtown, and his presence will be missed sorely by citizens generally. Mr. Wallace never married, making his home with his brother, the late John W. Wallace, and his sister, Miss Amelia Wallace, who survives him and who has the full sympathy of many friends. The funeral it is understood will take place on Saturday afternoon and will be under Masonic auspices, Mr. Wallace having for many years been a prominent member of the order."
