In December of 1904 he purchased the New London Roller Mills. In February of 1906 he was appointed by Governor Warfield as Justice of the Peace and Notary for the fourteenth district of Frederick. Lewis Mill Complex (Willow Grove) is a historic grist mill complex located at Jefferson, Frederick County, Maryland. The complex consists of seven standing structures, a house foundation, and the remains of an earlier millrace. It centers on an early-19th century three-story brick mill structure with a gabled roof. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. Obituary from The News Frederick, January 6, 1934 George J. B. Lewis died suddenly at his home, 13 McMurray Street, at 7 o'clock this morning. He had been in ill health for four years but died suddenly of a heart attack. He was aged 74 years and was the son of the late Cornelia Wiles and Basil W. Lewis, formerly of near Jefferson. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran church this city, and was a charter member of Jefferson Council No 127 Jr. O. U. A. M. For a number of years he owned and operated the Willow Grove flour mill near Jefferson from which business he retired 18 years ago, and since has resided in Frederick. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Rose V. Lewis, this city, and the following children: Mrs. Howard D. Fawley, Petersville, Mrs. Robert L. Wenner, Rosemont Addtion Brunswick, Mrs. Harmon C. Smith near Middletown, Mrs. John S. Wetnight, Burkittsville, Mrs. Edgar E. Ferrell, Petersville, Mrs. Arlington Hause. Martinsburg, Basil C. Lewis and George E. Lewis, both of Frederick two sisters, Miss Martha E. Lewis and Mrs. Rose C. Culler, both of Jefferson; also 25 grandchildren. Funeral from the late home Monday afternoon at 2:30 'clock. Interment in St. Paul's Lutheran cemetery, Jefferson. M. R. Etchison and Son, funeral directors.
