George J Petersen, Everett, had come to Okanogan to visit with his son Thursday. Friday the pair apparently arrived a the lake early and began fishing. M. D. Gwinn, Omak, discovered the up-ended boat at about 7 pm and upon further investigation found a fishing creel, a small bad and two hats floating near the shore. Okanogan county police were notified and dragging operations were begun under the direction of Deputy Sheriff Virgil Weltz znd Deputy Sheriff Leonard Therriault. At 3 pm Friday the bodies were recovered near the spillway at the southwest corner of the lake. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the St. Agnes Catholic church in Okanogan> High requiem mass was offered by Father Paul M Georgen and rosary was said Tuesday night from the Whitfield funeral chapel in Okanogan. George Joseph Petersen was born at Longard, Denmark in 1889. He came to the United States in 1904 and had been a resident of Okanogan County since that time with the exception of the past year when he operated a restaurant in Everett. He is survived by his wife, Claire M Petersen of Everett; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred H Moore, Okanogan; four sons, Wilfred E, Mesa, Arizona, Leonard E., Stanley C., and Vincent J., all of Everett, two granddaughters and two grandsons. George Carl Petersen was born at Omak in 1926 and had been a resident of Okanogan county for 20 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Okanogan Post No. 56 of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Donna J Petersen and son, Donald Michael of Okanogan. Burial was in the Okanoma cemetery.
