Description	:	George L. Knutson, age 78 of Kenmare, died Tuesday, September 20, 1988, at the Trinity Nursing Home of Minot. His funeral was held Friday, Sept. 23, 1988, at 10:00 a.m. at Evanger Lutheran Church of rural Norma. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Officiating for the service was Rev. Thomas Stenzel. Organist was Mrs. Alma Knutson. Active casketbearers were Toby Knutson, Raymond Knutson, Trent Knutson, Robert Johnson, Richard Johnson, and Robert Knutson. He was born on March 21, 1910, at rural Norma, a son of Knute and Torbjor Knutson and was raised in that area where he attended rural schools. He worked at Juneau and Anchorage, Alaska, for a time and also for the Alaska Railroad. He served in the U.S. Army from August of 1942 to December of 1945 and returned to the Norma area following his discharge. He was married to Mathilda Ethen on April 19, 1948 at Tolley, and they lived and farmed in Rockford Township, Renville Co. In 1965 they moved to Kenmare and have lived there since that time. He is survived by his wife, Mathilda "Tillie" of Kenmare; sons, Daniel of Northglenn, CO, Johan of Cheyenne, WY, Bernard and Jerome, both of Kenmare, and George Jr. of Ft Stewart, GA; daughters, Sharon Emmel of Kenmare, Sonja Eickelman, Sandra Carey and Gloria Barbot, all of Minot, Diane Barbot of Rolette, Lynn Gronvold of Barton, Patti of Laramie, WY, Deloris Stolt of Drake, Joan Lacher of Kimball, NE, and Mary Goehring of Jamestown; brothers, Theodore of Kenmare, and Hjalmer of Lewiston, ID; and sisters, Eleanor Wallestad of Sun City, AZ, and Bernice Christensen of Kenmare.
