Read More	LAWSON STERLING PASSED AWAY Succumbed To Pneumonia After Short Illness In Baltimore INTERRED IN CRISFIELD CEMETERY The community was deeply grieved and shocked on Saturday last when it was learned that George Lawson Sterling, better known to his intimates and close friends as "Lawson", had passed away at Mercy Hospital, in Baltimore, where he had been a patient for a short time due to an attack of pneumonia. He had been suffering only a few days with a severe cold which he thought he could fight off as he did not want to stop his important work at the Bethlehem Steel and Fairfield Corporation where he had been employed for some time. When his condition grew serious he was taken to the hospial where everything was done for him that was possible but to no avail. The ravages of the disease had done its damage and he succumbed at 1:00 a. m. Saturday morning. The Bradshaw Funeral Parlors Ambulance brought the body from Baltimore for burial here. Lawson was 28 years of age, and was a graduate of the Crisfield High School, Class of 1930. He also matriculated at the University of Maryland for one year, taking a special course in Political Economy, after which he was employed in various positions throughout the State. He was a young man of sterling character and was beloved by all who knew him. He was a very popular member of the younger social set in Crisfield and in the county and since he resided in Baltimore had made numerous friends who deeply mourn his going into the great beyond. Not only will he be missed by the younger set but by the older ones whose privilege it was to know him. Several years ago he chose for his bride Miss Sarah Dize, the charming and accomplished daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Dize, and from this union, one child was born, little Joseph. His remains were laid to rest in Crisfield Cemetery on Monday, the funeral services being held at the old Sterling home on Myrtle street at 1:00 p. m. Rev. Charles M. Elderdice conducted the funeral services. Pall-bearers were Messrs, Adolph Justice, Orrie Lee Tawes, Edwin Muir, Fieldy Dize, William Tilghman and Paul Maddrix. Honorary pall-bearers were Messrs, William S. Quinn, Rupert Catlin, Raymond Wilson. Sr:, Raymond Wilson, Jr., Edward Holland and Noah Dize. Besides his wife and little son, he is survived by his father, Herman L. Sterling and step- mother, Mrs. Virginia Sterling. His grandmother, Mrs. Hiram L Sterling, and one brother, Herman L. Sterling, Jr., of New York and Miami, Fla., also survive. He was affiliated with the Mount Pleasant Church which he attended when he was living here. The Crisfield Times, May 1, 1942 pg.1
