On Friday, 17th, George Little closed his eyes forever on a world in which; for many years, he enjoyed well-earned prominence. His life was one of great activity, and at the patriarchal age of 97 years he was gathered to his fathers. On Friday, 17th, George Little closed his eyes forever on a world in which; for many years, he enjoyed well-earned prominence. His life was one of great activity, and at the patriarchal age of 97 years he was gathered to his fathers. It was sixty-six years ago that the deceased left the home of his nativity – Sligo, Ireland – and emigrated to America. Three years after, he came to Mono where he settled and has since remained. From the first establishment of municipal government Mr. Little took an active part in township politics, and for eighteen years served as an honoured member of the county council. In politics he was of the most loyal and uncompromising of the old Conservative school, allowing no outside influences to weaken his allegiance to the old party. Next to his politics, Mr Little loved the Orange lodge, of which he was a member for fifty-seven years, being the foremost figure in the old time 12th of July celebration at Orangeville. He was also a life-long member of the Church of England. Mr Little was three times married, his third wife, formerly Mrs Dunlop, surviving him. He leaves surviving him the following sons and daughters: - Mrs Wm. Jackson, Mono; Mrs Matthew Wilkins, Orangeville; Wm. Little, Mono; Mrs Jas. Carson, Meaford; Mrs Gilbert Carson, Ottawa, of his first family; and George Little, Mono, and Mrs John Barefoot, Orangeville, of his second family. - Grand-children and great grandchildren combine to make a very large family of descendents. The internment took place at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Orangeville, on Monday last. Services were read at the residence, Lot 25 Centre Road, by the Rev. W A Graham of Shelburne, and on the arrival of the remains at Orangeville the burial rites were performed by Rev. Canon Henderson, of Orangeville.
