Description	:	George Lockwood Miller, pioneer resident of Greenwood County, passed away at his home in Eureka, January 30, after a long illness, at the age of 90 years, 4 months and 29 days. Mr. Miller was born in Edwards county, Illinois, September 1, 1851, coming to Kansas and Greenwood county with relatives in 1860 where he spent his youth. Read More	George Lockwood Miller, pioneer resident of Greenwood County, passed away at his home in Eureka, January 30, after a long illness, at the age of 90 years, 4 months and 29 days. Mr. Miller was born in Edwards county, Illinois, September 1, 1851, coming to Kansas and Greenwood county with relatives in 1860 where he spent his youth. In 1868 and 1869 he served his country in the 19th Kansas Volunteer Cavalry under Governor Crawford, who resigned his office to take command of a regiment of cavalry to quell an uprising of a hostile tribe of Indians in Southwest Kansas and Oklahoma. After Mr. Miller had been mustered out of the service, he farmed in Wilson, Pawnee and Greenwood counties until 1915 when he retired and moved to Eureka where he spent the remainder of his life, excepting three years when he resided in Wichita. On January 13,, 1885, he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Harvel at Fredonia. To this union were born eleven children. Five preceded him in death, three in infancy, Clyde W. in 1918, and Guy C. in 1937. Surviving are his wife, four daughters, Elsie Boterf, Beaulah Ladd, and Blanche Thornton of Eureka; Iva Steele of Neodesha; two sons, Keorge L. and Clint, of Wichita; fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren, also one half brother, James H. Miller, of Irvington, Illinois, and one half sister, Mrs. Rhoda Smith, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas. He was united with the Christian Church in Eureka in early life and its Christian influence was revealed in his daily living. He was a kind and loving husband and father and was loved and respected by all who knew him for his honesty and integrity. Funeral service, conducted by Rev. Bert Sutton, was held from the Baird Funeral Home in Eureka, Sunday afternoon, February 1. The American Legion had charge of the service at the grave. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.
