Description	:	Center Point Independent June 3, 1948 LAST RITES FOR GEORGE MATHENY HELD TUESDAY Funeral services for George Matheny, who passed away some time early Friday morning of last week as he slept, were held at two o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Sarchett Funeral Home, with Rev. W. C. Wilson of Toddville, conducting the rites. The singers were Meryl Wilson and his daughter Beulah Wilson, who sang "Death Is Only A Dream: The pall bearers were Ed Matheny, Archie Matheny, Joe Matheny, Raymond Schmickle, Meryl Van Fossen and Elgin Webster. Burial was in the Dunkard cemetery south of Center Point. George Matheny, son of Peter F. and Nancy Matheny, was born April 29, 1866 and departed this life May 28, 1948, passing away in his sleep before the dawn of morning. He had arrived at the age of 82 years and once month. Mr. Matheny was a good neighbor and enjoyed visiting with his friends. He leaves to mourn his passing one daughter, Mrs. Eda Renaker of Long Beach, California; and his son Glenn Matheny of Center Point, with whom he made his home. He also leaves to mourn his going one grand-daughter, two grandsons and four great grandchildren. "Think of him still as the same, I say He is not dead--he is just away."
