Keller here Wednesday afternoon when last rites were held for old-time Bear Paw rancher who succumbed to a heart attack last Monday morning. Services were conducted by the Rev. J. B. Stuart of the Methodist church, under the auspices of Treasure Lodge No. 95, A. F. and A. M. , of which Mr. Keller was a member. Interment was in Big Sandy cemetery beside the body of his wife. Death came suddenly to George Keller. His son and family had visited the parental ranch on Sunday afternoon, and when muddy roads made it impossible for them to return to their ranch nearby, they remained all night at their father's place. Early Monday morning John started with the children for the school house about a mile distant from his father's place. Mr. Keller said he would walk out along the road to where John's car had been left the previous evening, when he would drive the team back and John could fetch the car along. After waiting for a time, John returned along the way toward his father's house and discovered his father's body lying on the ground about half a mile from home. Mr. Keller had apparently dropped dead. He had been in fair health and on the morning of his death had eaten a hearty breakfast, and had exclaimed he felt better than usual. George Keller will be missed by his friends and neighbors in this community. He was a good man and a good neighbor, always willing to share what was his with those less fortunate than he. His passing removes one more of the old-timers, than which no finer type of rugged manhood ever existed. --- George Marland Keller was born at Carlisle, Pa., May 18, 1869, one of a family of nine children born to George W. and Elizabeth Keller. He passed away Monday morning, May 13, 1935, lacking just five days of being 66 years of age. He spent his early childhood in Pennsylvania and in the early '80s moved to Ord, Neb., and from there to Cascade, Neb. As a young man he went on to Wyoming where he spent several years on cattle ranches. On Feb. 23, 1893, he was united in marriage to Eldora Bruner at Sun Dance, Wyo., from where they went back to Nebraska to live until 1901. In 1901 the family came to Montana where Mr. Keller took up ranching in the Bear Paw mountains, where he lived until death beckoned. The family made the trip from Nebraska to Montana in a covered wagon. Five children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Keller, three of whom survive. George Walter died in infancy, Jay Harrison was called away at the tender age of nine, while Bertha M., John F. and Thomas J. remain to mourn their father's loss. Mrs. Keller preceded her husband in death by several years, having passed away on April 6, 1921. Others to survive Mr. Keller are four brothers, Oliver J. of Palmer, Neb., Jay R. of Ainsworth, Neb., John F. of Cascade Neb., Lee L. of Lodge Grass, Mont.; and one sister, Mrs. Gertrude Cox of Purdum, Neb.; seven grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Bertha English of Big Sandy.
