In the article below is appears to be the death date is wrong. George McLeod died Nov. 15, 1921 at Long Beach, California at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 23 days. He was born Jan. 22, 1838 in Delaware county, Ohio. "When 18 years old he moved to Jones county, Iowa, with his parents. Here is taught school, as well as worked on his father's farm. In 1863, he married Melvina Westfall and later moved to Clarence, Iowa, where he was admitted to the bar, here his three sons, Charles, George, and Horace were born and grew to manhood. He practiced law until he moved to Stanton in 1902, where his two sons Chas. and Horace, were located. From this time on, he and Mrs. McLeod spent their winters in California, where Horace soon located." After the death of his wife in 1916 he made his home with his son Horace in California. His health gradually failed. For the past 1 and 1/2 years he has had a constant attendant and for the past 2 months has been in the hospital receiving care and attention from 2 special nurses most of the time. He was survived by 3 sons: Charles at Stanton, George at Glidden, Iowa; Horace at Long Beach, California; 1 brother at Clarence, Iowa; 1 sister at Evanston, Illinois. The body arrived in Stanton Wednesday evening with the funeral held at Charles McLeod residence in Stanton on Thursday with burial in Stanton cemetery.
