Description	:	"Melvina Westfall was born in Schoharie Count y, New York, in the Mohawk Valley, Oct. 12, 1843. Her Ancestors were Patroons or early Holland settlers of South Eastern New York. Later her parents moved to Wisconsin where they remained a few years, after which they removed to Cedar County, Iowa in 1856. Here she was married to George McLeod May 4, 1862*. This was a double wedding, Mr. McLeod's sister having been married at the same time. These four people celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary at Augusta, Kansas in 1912 and they also had a second reunion at the same... To Mr. and Mrs McLeod were born Charles McLeod of Stanton, George McLeod of Glidden, Iowa, and Horace B McLeod of Garden Grove, California all of whom were present except Horace who five weeks ago returned to California after bringing his father and mother home from that place The deceased leaves besides these her devoted husband, three sisters, only one, Mrs. M. Brink of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, being present, the -others being in feeble health, and one brother living in New York state About fourteen years ago Mr. and Mrs. McLeod came to Stanton where they have filled a large place in the affections of the community and where their later years have been passed in happiness and peace. It has been their custom for some years to spend their winters in California and it was there during the winter just passed that Mrs. McLeod's fatal illness first became know.* Everything was done that loving hands could do but death had marked her for his own and in the early morning hours of the Sixth day of May, 1916 she died in peace, the mortal put on immortality and her spirit passed on into the spirit world."
