MULLINS - George Milton Brown, 73, retired city engineer of Mullins, died at a Mullins hospital Tuesday night after a brief illness. Mr. Brown was born in Chatham County, N.C., son of the late William and Carolina Davis Brown. MULLINS - George Milton Brown, 73, retired city engineer of Mullins, died at a Mullins hospital Tuesday night after a brief illness. Mr. Brown was born in Chatham County, N.C., son of the late William and Carolina Davis Brown. Since 1917, Mr. Brown had made his home in Mullins, where he served as city engineer until his retirement in November 1953. Mr. Brown was a member of Macedonia Methodist Church. He was a former steward of the church, was a teacher of the men's adult class, was a mason, a member of the Eastern Star, Daughters of America and Junior Order. He had been a state councilor in the Junior Order. Funeral services will be held at Macedonia Methodist Church Thursday at 3 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Julius E. Clark. Interment will be in Cedardale Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Lena Martin; one son, Travis Brown of Manning; one stepson, C. Lee Grimsley of Norfolk, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. C. L. York of Gibsonville, N.C. and Mrs. J. M. Brookshire of Randleman, N.C.; one brother, C. C. Brown of Burlington, N.C.; and 4 grandchildren. Published in the News and Courier, June 1955
