The following is from an obituary for George N. Dulin Brookneal received a profound shock when on last Saturday afternoon about two o'clock the news spread rapidly that George N. Dulin had been found dead in bed at his home near the Methodist church. Mr. Dulin, whose wife and little daughter were on a visit to relatives in northern New York and Vermont, had been staying at his home but taking his meals at Mrs. S. E. Crafton's. On Friday he complained of suffering from indigestion and consulted his physician for treatment. On Saturday he did not appear either at his office or for his meals. Telephone calls to his residence were not answered and an investigation disclosed that he was dead. Dr. W. O. Tune who was the first to enter the home found the deceased lying in bed in a comfortable position and the cover not being disturbed indicated that he had passed away quietly in his sleep some time during the night. The county coroner, Dr. H. P. Brown, was called and after examination and investigation stated death was due to coronary thrombosis. Mrs. Dulin was notified and, accompanied by friends, left Ticondoroga, N.Y. immediately by automobile for Brookneal, arriving here about 5 p.m. Sunday. A sister, Mrs. Margaret Elgin, of Clarendon, was also notified, and she and a brother, Alfred Dulin, of Loudoun county, left immediately for Brookneal, arriving here about 2 a.m. Sunday. The undertaking department of the C. S. Stephens Furniture Company took charge of the body and prepared it for burial. Mr. Dulin had been superintendent of the Brookneal plant of the Clinchfield Sand & Feldspar Company of Baltimore for about two years and had made many friends here. He was 49 years of age, being born March 25, 1887, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Dulin, of Leesburg. He is survived by his wife who was Miss Ida McIntyre, of Orwell, Vermont, a little daughter, Joanne, one brother, Alfred Dulin, of Leesburg, and three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Elgin, Misses Blanche and Helen Dulin, of Clarendon. The deceased was a member of Brookneal Lodge No. 267, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, being active in the work of the order and holding an office in his lodge. He also held membership in the local lodge of Patriarchal Odd Fellowship, Stonewall Encampment No. 39. He had served in the World War and at the time of his death was commander of Brookneal Post No. 153, American Legion. He was also a member of the local Methodist church.
