Description	:	Death of George N. Stokes George N. Stokes, son of Jose N. and Mary Stokes, was born in Village township, Van Buren county, Iowa, April 7th, 1856. He grew to manhood in his native county, and spent all the years of his life in this community. During the early years of his life he made farming his business---working on the home farm. Read More	Death of George N. Stokes George N. Stokes, son of Jose N. and Mary Stokes, was born in Village township, Van Buren county, Iowa, April 7th, 1856. He grew to manhood in his native county, and spent all the years of his life in this community. During the early years of his life he made farming his business---working on the home farm. His father and mother departed this life in March, 1892. He was then in declining health, and since that time has made his home with his sister Mrs. Robert A. Wilson, where for the last 25 years he has received the needed love and attention. He died at their home near Libertyville, in Jefferson county, May 12th, 1917, at 9:10 p.m. George has been a student of the Bible, and accepted the savior into his heart and enjoyed the assurance promised to the faithful believer. He was ready and willing to exchange worlds. He is survived by one brother, O. O. Stokes of Bellefourche,[sic-Belle Fourche], S. D., and one sister, Mrs. Robt. A. Wilson of Libertyville. Funeral service were held at Mt. Moriah church, May 15th, 1917, G. W. Barker of Muscatine, Iowa, conducting the service. Source: Van Buren Co.
