Friends at Nelson were sorry to hear of the death of George Steele and do extend their sympathy to Mrs. Steele and the family. The Steeles were former Nelson residents for about fifteen years. Mr. Steele was employed by W.C. Hall for 12 or 13 years and after Mr. Hall sold his business, Mr. Steele was employed as auto salesman for Keith Eiel Motors in Nelson for a year or two before moving to Hastings. Their home was the property located north of the Court House, which is now the home of Mrs. Winston Flower and boys. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 23, at 2:00 p.m. at the Megrue-Price Funeral Home, Superior, with the Rev. Maurice Holt officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Superior. He is survived by his widow, Nellie; three sons, David and Douglas, both of Hastings and Robert of Des Moines; one granddaughter; his mother, Mrs. Pearl Steele of Superior; five sisters, Mrs. Roberta Eberts, Texas, Mrs. Ralph Bottenfield, Nelson, Mrs. William Katz, Coos Bay, Oregon, Mrs. Ted Enghoff, Superior and Mrs. William McBroom, Sedalia, Colorado and a brother, Carl of Scottsbluff. Steele, 59, of Hastings, Nebraska were held in the Megrue-Price Chapel in Superior on Saturday, November 23, at 2 o'clock p.m. Mr. Steel (sic) died November 21, 1974 at the University Medical Center in Omaha, where he underwent surgery November 8. He had been in the intensive care unit at the hospital until the time of his death. George Phillip Steele was born March 7, 1915 at Woodbine, Iowa to James Robert and M. Pearl Steele and at an early age he moved with his parents to Superior, Nebraska. He attended the Superior schools and was a member of the 1934 graduating class of Superior High School. He was married to Nellie M. Christensen of Bostwick October 9, 1939. Their married life was lived in Clay, Nuckolls and Adams county vicinity. He was a civilian employee at the Harvard Air Force Base during World War II. The most past of his life was spent as a automobile salesman in Superior, Nelson and Hastings, Nebraska. At the time of his death, he was employed by the United Automobile Association of Lincoln, Nebraska, serving Adams, Clay and Webster counties. He was proceeded (sic) in death by his father, James Robert. Survivors include his widow, Nellie M. of Hastings; three sons, David Phillip and Douglas Paul both of Hastings and Robert Craig of Des Moines, Iowa; granddaughter, Robin Rene Steele of Columbus; his mother, M. Pearl Steele of the Good Samaritan Center, Superior; a brother, Carl E. Steel of Columbus; five sisters, Mrs. Roberta Everets, Harker Heights, Texas, Mrs. Ralph Bottenfield, Nelson, Mrs. Wm. Katz, N. Bend, Oregon, Mrs. Ted Enghoff, Superior and Mrs. Wm. McBroom, Salida, Colorado and other relatives and a host of friends. Pastor Maurice Holt of Amherst, former pastor of the Nelson Methodist Church, officiated. Casketbearers were Robert Jones, Richard Hughes of Hastings, Lester Wissing, Frank Martin of Superior, Leslie Warneking of Omaha and Larry Warnkeing of Lincoln.
