Description	:	Ray Klinefelter, who resided in this vicinity during his youth passed away Monday morning at the home of his mother at Alexandria, S.D., thus terminating a battle for life and health which he had courageously carried on for the past seven years. The remains were brought to Hawarden Wednesday afternoon and taken directly to Grace Hill cemetery where brief funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wm. F. Vance, pastor of the Associated church, after which interment was made in the family lot there. The remains were brought to Hawarden Wednesday afternoon and taken directly to Grace Hill cemetery where brief funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wm. F. Vance, pastor of the Associated church, after which interment was made in the family lot there. George Raymond Klinefelter was born near Reinbeck Iowa, April 3, 1883, and departed this life Feb. 13, 1922, aged 38 years, 10 months and 10 days. When only one year old he came with his parents to Hawarden when they located on a farm near this city and he grew to manhood here. He attended the Hawarden High school and later entered the University of Iowa from which he graduated from the pharmacy department in 1907. Following his graduation he took up work in a drug store at Keninare, N.D., where he remained for a number of years. Later he also spent some time in drug stores in Watertown, Aberdeen and Sioux Falls. When his health began to fail in 1915 he entered the South Dakota state sanitarium at Custer, S.D., where he spent five years in a vain endeavor to regain his former health. He then went south where he remained in Alexandria. Here he bravely fought the ravages of disease until 6 o'clock Monday morning when the end came and he was relieved of his suffering. Those who knew the deceased during his youth here will recall his ever cheery nature and his readiness always to do a favor for a friend. He had responsibility thrust upon him early in life but he bravely met all obstacles with a smile, even as he waged the long barrel for health. Many a silent tear will be shed at this passing. He leaves to mourn their loss his mother, Mrs. Anna Klinefelter, and two sisters Maud and Grace Klinefelter, all of Alexandria, besides other relatives and a large circle of loyal friends and neighbors.
