Description	:	George Rippentrop was born on a farm north of Lennox, SD on Dec. 15, 1911, the son of George and Gesina (Schriever) Rippentrop. He attended rural school and the graduated from Lennox High School in 1932. He attended Nettleton College and was a salesman for York Products prior to entering the service. He was engaged in the European Theater, serving as a... Read More	George Rippentrop was born on a farm north of Lennox, SD on Dec. 15, 1911, the son of George and Gesina (Schriever) Rippentrop. He attended rural school and the graduated from Lennox High School in 1932. He attended Nettleton College and was a salesman for York Products prior to entering the service. On Jun. 5, 1940 he was united in marriage to Josie VanHove at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Lennox. In May of 1943 he entered the US Army where he served during World War II. He was engaged in the European Theater, serving as a German interpreter. Following his discharge in Dec. of 1945 they returned to their farm north of Lennox. They continued to farm north of Lennox most of their married life. In addition to farming, George was a seed salesman for Cargill, Inc. for 35 years and then a salesman for Mustang Seed for over 20 years. On Aug. 1, 1995 they moved to their home in Sioux Falls, SD. His death ended a marriage of over 55 years. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters, including his twin sister, Corsena. He was the last surviving member of the George and Gesina Rippentrop family. Having undergone kidney dialysis for the past two years, George died suddenly shortly after arrival at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 1995. He attained the age of 83 years, 11 months and 20 days. Grateful for having shared his life are his widow, Josie; two sons and their wives: Gary and Denice Rippentrop of Minneapolis, MN, and Galyn and Pam Rippentrop of Lennox; two daughters: Judy Rippentrop of Fargo, ND, and Joyce Swanson of Council Bluffs, IA; eight grandchildren; and three great-great sons.
