Description	:	Josie (VanHove) Rippentrop was born on a farm southwest of Chancellor, Sd on Mar. 21, 1916, the daughter of Jacob J. and Cena (Mulder) VanHove. She attended District #90 rural school and then graduated from Chancellor High School. She attended Dakota State at Madison, and later received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education fro the University of Sioux Falls. She taught school at the Crowley country school for a number of years, and then taught fourth grade in Tea as part of Lennox School District #41-4 until her retirement in 1981. She attended District #90 rural school and then graduated from Chancellor High School. She attended Dakota State at Madison, and later received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education fro the University of Sioux Falls. She taught school at the Crowley country school for a number of years, and then taught fourth grade in Tea as part of Lennox School District #41-4 until her retirement in 1981. On Jun. 5, 1940, she was united in marriage to George Rippentrop in Lennox, SD. Following George"s discharge from the Army in 1945, they returned to their farm north of Lennox, where they lived most of their married life. On Aug. 1, 1995, they moved to Sioux Falls. Her husband preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1995, ending a marriage of over 55 years. She moved back to Lennox in July of 1997. Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Arnold VanHove and Harvey VanHove. Mrs. Rippentrop suffered a severe stroke on Jun. 8, 1998, and after a valiant struggle, she died at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center on Monday morning, Dec. 28, 1998. She attained the age of 82 years, nine months and seven days. Grateful for having shared her life are two sons and their wives: Gary and Denice Rippentrop of Columbia Heights, MN, and Galyn and Pam Rippentrop of Sioux Falls; two daughters: Judy Rippentrop of Fargo, ND, and Joyce Swanson of Council Bluffs, IA; eight grandchildren; two brothers: Dr. Eugene D. VanHove and his wife, Dorothy, of Indianapolis, IN and Jacob G. VanHove and his wife, Mil, of Santa Ana, CA; a sister-in-law: Ruth VanHove of Chancellor.
