He was the husband of Vivian (Dionne) Carvalho to whom he was married for almost 70 years. Born in Attleboro, Mass. on Jan. 27, 1919, he was a son of the late John and Constance M. Carvalho, 92, of Messenger Street, Plainville, died on Monday, June 27, 2011 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, R.I. following a brief illness. He was the husband of Vivian (Dionne) Carvalho to whom he was married for almost 70 years. Born in Attleboro, Mass. on Jan. 27, 1919, he was a son of the late John and Constance M. (Pimental) Carvalho. He was a lifelong resident of the City of Attleboro until he moved to Plainville in 1957. He and Mrs. Carvalho wintered for many years in Loxahatchee, Fla. Mr. Carvalho was employed as the head of the maintenance department at Larson Tool and Stamping Company in Attleboro for 42 years until his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Martha's Roman Catholic Church, Plainville. He enjoyed the times spent traveling with his beloved wife throughout the world and was an ardent saltwater fisherman and avid golfer. Mr. Carvalho was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks - Lodge 1014 in Attleboro for many years. In addition to his wife, he leaves two children: Norman G. Carvalho and his wife Glennis (Canole) Carvalho of North Attleboro, and Carol Boudreau and her husband Donald Boudreau of Loxahatchee, Fla.; his grandchildren: Lauren and Richard Kallianidis of Attleboro, Courtney and Sergio Dos Santos of Taunton, Kimberly Carvalho of Attleboro, Christopher Boudreau and his fiance Kerry Urbanick of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Dawn and Curtis Perry of Jupiter, Fla.; great-grandchildren: Gregory Perry of Jupiter, Fla., Jared Perry of Jupiter, Fla., and Grace Kallianidis of Attleboro; a sister, Irene Sousa of Attleboro; a brother, Robert Carvalho of Oceanside, Calif., and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends. He was the brother of the late Mary Furtado, Bill Carvalho, Danny Carvalho, John Carvalho, Arthur Carvalho, Alfred Carvalho, Alzeda Carvalho, Aldina Amadio and Georgiana Austin. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visitation on Thursday, June 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Ave. (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, 3/4 mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro. A ritual service will be conducted by the B.P.O.E. - Lodge 1014 of Attleboro at 6:30 p.m. during visitation. Those in need of a local ride to visitation may call the funeral home at 508-695-0200 to make an advance reservation for such gratis transportation. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the funeral on Friday, July 1 at 8:30 a.m. from the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home - the national historic Colonel Obed Robinson Home, 161 Commonwealth Ave. (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, 3/4 mile on the left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Martha's Roman Catholic Church, 227 South St. - Route 1A, Plainville, with the Rev. Thomas Stanton, pastor, officiating. Burial will be private in Shepardville Cemetery, Plainville. Following church services, an invitation will be extended to join the family for a time of continued fellowship and refreshments at a location to be announced. Children's room available during visitation and while the funeral cortege is being organized.
