Description	:	Funeral services for George Samuel Trowbridge, 79, will be held Thursday at the First Methodist Church in Dows at 2 p.m., August 27, 1959. Rev. Frank Considine will officiate and the Erickson Funeral Home will be in charge. Burial will be in the Fairview cemetery in Dows. Mr. Trowbridge died in the Lamar hospital in Colorado where he had been taken after suffering a heart attack at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Sellers whom he was visiting. Mr. Trowbridge died in the Lamar hospital in Colorado where he had been taken after suffering a heart attack at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wm. Sellers whom he was visiting. He had been a county supervisor for twelve years and had been active in community affairs. He was a 50 year member of the Dows Masonic lodge and had been active for 50 years. He was a past master of the Masonic order. For 50 years he had belonged to the Eastern Star and had served as past patron. George Samuel Trowbridge was the son of Thomas and Henrietta Trowbridge. He was born April 20, 1880 at Port Henry, New York. In 1881 he came with his parents to Iowa and settled on a farm in west Vernon township. He attended the country schools and later attended Ellsworth College in Iowa Falls. He taught school in Vernon township and on March 20, 1908 he married Otella Ann Starnar. He farmed for 32 years and in 1916 they moved to Dows where he engaged in the mercantile business for five years. Six children were born of this union: Starnar R. of Dayton, Ohio; Lincoln P., Iowa Falls; Ann, Mrs. W. Sellers of Lamar, Colorado; Madeline, Mrs. Harold Dexter, Dows; Mitchell T., Osage and George M. of Englewood, Colorado. All survive him. Other survivors include one sister, Florence Sturgeon of Belmond; brother Thomas T., Fort Dodge; 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
