Description	:	Mrs. Maude Graffunder, 80, a Ft. Dodge resident for the past eight years, died at Lutheran hospital early Sunday morning following a long time illness. She had been a medical patient at the hospital for the past 11 months. Mrs. Graffunder made her home with a brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. T. P. Trowbridge in Ft. Dodge. Mrs. Graffunder made her home with a brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. T. P. Trowbridge in Ft. Dodge. She formerly lived on a farm 12 miles southeast of Clarion in Wall Lake township. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Bruce Memorial chapel. Following the rites, the body was taken to Dows where further rites were held Wednesday at the Erickson Funeral Home. Burial was in the Dows Cemetery. Mrs. Graffunder is survived by two brothers, George Trowbridge of Dows and T. P. Trowbridge of Ft. Dodge and one sister, Mrs. Florence Sturgeon of Belmond. Born on August 12, 1875 at Port Henry, New York, Mrs. Graffunder was the former Maude Trowbridge, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Trowbridge. She came to Iowa with her parents in the spring of 1881. The family settled on the farm 12 miles southeast of Clarion in Wall Lake township and she attended the rural schools of that vicinity. She also attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls. She taught in Vernon township, Wright County for many years. She also taught music for several years. She was married to Franklin Ross and the couple farmed near Dows until Mr. Ross' death in 1937. She was married to August W. Graffunder of Webster City in 1940. They farmed until Mr. Graffunder's death in 1946. Mrs. Graffunder went to Ft. Dodge eight years ago to make her home with her brother and sister-in-law.
