Mr Sinn was an early farmer in Valley townsip, active in his work ntil the family moved to Clarinda about 36 years ago. He left the home on west Clark street 15 years ago and has been with his daughter in Omaha since. He is brother of Charles Sinn, civil war veteran who lives in Coin. He leaves two daughters, Miss Eva Sinn of Omaha and Mrs Mary Hall of Jacksonville, Fla, and a son, J. Frank Sinn of Clarinda. Rev Charles Rowe of the Clarinda Methodist church will be in charge of the services here. Burial will be in North Grove church cemetery, near where the home was. CLARINDA HERALD JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, Jul 13, 1942 George Sinn died at the home of his daughter in Omaha, Nebr, July 12, 1942, at the age of 90 years, 2 months and 11 days. He was born in Wurtenberg, Germany, May 1, 1852. As a child of four he came to the United States making the voyage on a sailing vessel, and, due to mishaps of the voyage, required 72 hours to make the passage. His childhood days were spent in Pennsylvania, Lancaster county. He became a citizen of this country in 1860 when his father received his naturalization papers. Soon after the Civil war, his parents moved to Illinois for three years. True to the pioneer type of that time, they pushed on westward into Iowa and settled on a farm in Page county, near College Springs, in 1871. In 1879 he married Mary Alice Hollis, also a pioneer of this county. Six children were born to this union, three of whom survive; J.F. Sinn of Clarinda, Eva May Sinn of Omaha, Nebr, and Mary Alice Hall of Jacksonville, Fla. He is also survived by one brother, Charles, at Coin, Iowa; and two grandsons, Charles Sinn of Clarinda and William Sinn of Madison, Wis, and one great granddaughter, Sandra Ellen Sinn. In 1881 he moved to his Valley township farm, where he made his home until 1906 when the family moved to Clarinda. His wife died in 1920. The past 15 years he has made his home with his daughter Eva in Omaha. In 1906 he united with the Methodist church at Clarinda and remained a faithful member until his death. Funeral services were held there Tuesday afternoon, July 14, and interment was in the family lot at North Grove cemetery. George Sinn was a quiet, kindly man who made friends with his neighbors and acquaintances. He was a kind and loving father. He lived a long and useful life full of the joy of living and contentment.
