Description	:	1930, Friday January 10, The Almonte Gazette front page George Stanley Mr. George Stanley, who passed away on Dec. 26 in his 71st year, was a native of Keswick in the lake district of Northern England. He and his family came to this country about 25 years ago and settled in Almonte where he had resided until his death. He and his family came to this country about 25 years ago and settled in Almonte where he had resided until his death. Mr. Stanley was employed by the firm of Penmans Ltd. since it started in Almonte and was in the same mill under the former management. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. J. J. Lowe and was attended by a good number of friends and acquaintances. His eldest son Arthur, of Burslem, Staffordshire, died in October last and this had proved quite a shock to Mr. Stanley who had been in failing health for a number of years. He leaves, besides his widow, four daughters and one son. Mrs. Stanley to whom he was married 17 years ago, was Miss Emily Wood of Ravensthorpe, Yorkshire, England. The daughters are Mrs. Walter H. Morton, Mrs. C. Silson, Mrs. A. L. Horton of Detroit; and Mrs. W. H. Westbury of Toronto. The son is Arnold of Toronto. The pallbearers at the funeral were Messrs. Allan Jackman, Alf. Jackman, D. Walker, Jos. Brook. B. Lorimer arid Earle France. Interment was made in the Auld Kirk cemetery.
