Description	:	George Stonecipher was born in Corydon, Indiana, on September 24, 1850, and on arriving at manhood's estate, engaged in farming there until coming to Fillmore county, Nebraska. He was united in marriage with Miss Minerva Hottle at Corydon some sixty years ago. Early in life they both affiliated with the United Brethren church. Read More	George Stonecipher was born in Corydon, Indiana, on September 24, 1850, and on arriving at manhood's estate, engaged in farming there until coming to Fillmore county, Nebraska. He was united in marriage with Miss Minerva Hottle at Corydon some sixty years ago. Early in life they both affiliated with the United Brethren church. Thirty-three years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Stonecipher brought their young family to Nebraska and settled on a farm in Fillmore county, near Fairmont, in which latter place they bought a home and became residents here until 1924, when the condition of Mrs. Stonecipher's health made it desirable for her to be taken to Denver, Colorado. She passed away at Denver on May 10th, 1925. After an illness of several years duration, Mr. Stonecipher was taken for treatment to Ebenezer Hospital, Brush, Colorado, last March, where he succumbed to his sufferings on Sunday evening, August 4, 1935, at the age of eighty-four years, ten months and ten days. He is survived by his two sons, Lon Stonecipher and Ben Stonecipher, both residing at Chappell Nebraska; by his daughter, Mrs. Bessie Prescott of Denver, Colorado; his six grandchildren: Floyd Earl Stonecipher, (son of Lon); Mrs. Mildred Ruth Elmquist, Miss Wilma Verdeen Stonecipher and Miss Garnett Maxine Stonecipher (three daughters of Ben); and Kendis Myron Prescott and Howard Harley Prescott, sons of Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Prescott of Denver. The body was brought to Fairmont and funeral services were held in Fairmont Methodist church on Wednesday afternoon, August 7th, 1935, the pastor, Rev. J. Henry Stitt, officiating. The hymns "Son of My Soul" and "Hiding in Thee" were sung by Miss Alice Jackson and Mrs. Mabel Quinlan, with Miss Ruth Hurst piano accompanist. Pallbearers were Messrs. P. Fassnacht, D.M. Hayes, Fred Pearson, F.E. Schneider, W.E. Goodrich and W.A. Lewis. The flowers were tastefully arranged by Mrs. W.H. Hurst and Mrs. May Walker. Interment was made in Fairmont cemetery. Relatives in attendance from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Lon Stoncipher and son; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Stonecipher and two daughters of Chappell, Mrs. W.W. Prescott and two sons of Denver, Will Hottle and daughter Clarice of Elmwood, Mr. and Mrs. Cal Stonecipher of Lincoln. Also a number of friends.
