Description	:	George Stotts, age 89, of Boone and the Hearthstone Memory Care Unit of the Eastern Star Masonic Home, died at Hearthstone on April 20, 2016. Private family funeral services will be Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall with Rev. Gary Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in the Mineral Ridge Cemetery in Ridgeport. George Arthur Stotts was born in Boone, Iowa, on March 1, 1927, the son of Harold and Hazel (Doran) Stotts. He graduated from Beaver High School in Beaver, Iowa, in 1945. On September 26, 1953, George married Marianne Gardner in Bagley, Iowa. George farmed in Des Moines Township in Boone County in earlier years and owned/operated a plumbing business, ‘Stotts Plumbing and Heating’ for 15 years. For 25 years, George was a rural mail carrier working from the Boone Post Office and retiring in 1990. George was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the Boone Masons Mt. Olive Lodge #79 AF and AM, and a former board member of West Central Coop. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing in rivers and ponds, hunting, trapping and hunting raccoon with his dogs, mushroom hunting, and picking wild flowers in the timber. George is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Arla Jean Wirtz, and a brother-in-law Wayne Farmer. He is survived by his wife Marianne of Boone; three sons, Steven Stotts of Mason City, Charles Stotts and wife Gayle of Boone, and James Stotts and wife Lynn Anne of Carroll; a daughter Joyce Steck and husband Jack of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a brother Harold Stotts Jr. and wife Doris of Boone; three sisters Lois Blumeyer and husband Russ of Newton, Helen Farmer of Papillion, Nebraska, and Ruth Berry and husband Bill of Wisconsin; six grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
