(Albion Weekly News - Albion, Nebraska - February 19, 1914) George Stroup, son of Chas. and Minnie Stroup, was born near Albion, Nebr., June 8, 1892 and departed his life Febr. 10, 1914, at the age of 21 years, 9 months and 2 days. His father was among the earliest settlers of Boone county, having located here in 1879, and on July 3, 1887 was married to Miss Minnie Louden. The mother passed away on March 5, 1896, leaving the father and four small children, three boys, Ralph, Rolland and George, and one girl, Ruth. On August 10, 1910, Rolland answered the death summons. George was one whom to know was to like, and always made friends wherever he went. He will be greatly missed by his many friends who most sadly regret his early demise, and also by his father, brother and sister, where his absence will be most keenly felt. On a cold day last week a funeral procession winding its way from the country south of Albion to the Methodist church in Albion proclaimed that our old friend, Charles Stroup, had been again bereaved, and this time one of his strong young sons was passing to his final resting place. After death had called his faithful wife he was left alone with his family of young children, but kept the family circle intact till death again paid them a visit. He has had crosses to bear, but who has not? When this new trial came he took the form of his loved one and wended his way to the House of God, where Rev. Main spoke words of hope for a spiritual future, and from thence to the cemetery, where the body was laid to rest by the side of his mother to await the resurrection call.
