George Sylvester Gotchall, son of John and Anna Stoner Gotchall, was born May 6, 1864, at Mansfield, Ohio, and departed this life at his late home in Fontanelle, Iowa, July 11, 1930, aged 66 years 2 months and 5 days. His parents moved from Ohio to Lincoln, Nebraska, when he was a boy. On September 3, 1908, he was united in marriage with Mary Jacobson of Lincoln, Nebraska. Mr. and Mrs. Gotchall came from Nebraska, in 1916 and located on the Sanford farm near Orient, Iowa, where they lived for nine years; later moving to the Friedman farm south of Fontanelle, living there for two years. In 1927, he being no longer able to carry on the farm work, they moved to Fontanelle, where they have since made their home. The first forty years of his life was spent on the farm with his parents and gave unstintedly for their comfort and well being. He was a member of the Christian church in Lincoln, Nebraska. He is survived by his wife, two brothers; Curtis Gotchall who lives in Idaho and Henry Gotchall, Lincoln Nebraska, and one sister Emily Vantress, Calwell, Idaho. Funeral services were held from the Fontanelle Congregational church July 14, 1930 with sermon by Rev. James Walls pastor of the Methodist church, assisted by Rev. O. W. Lauxmann of the Congregational church. Interment was in the Fontanelle cemetery. Those from out of town to attend the funeral of George Gotchall Monday were; Mrs. Schaefer and daughters of Orient, Mrs. Pearl Heinbuch and Mrs. Ella Van Vleet of Nevinvill.
