Hall, son of Elijah and Rosetta Hall, was born in Berrien county, Michigan, Apr. 16, 1862, and died suddenly Thursday, May 7, 1936. The family moved to Iowa when he was about 20 years old, settling in Brooklyn where he has lived ever since. Hall, son of Elijah and Rosetta Hall, was born in Berrien county, Michigan, Apr. 16, 1862, and died suddenly Thursday, May 7, 1936. The family moved to Iowa when he was about 20 years old, settling in Brooklyn where he has lived ever since. He was of a family of 11 children consisting of William N., Andrew, Marion, Ozra, George U., Mrs. Margaret Strong, Mrs. Sarah Newton, Mrs. Jane Puderbaugh, Mrs. Anna Otto and Miss Eliza Hall. All have preceded him except Mrs. Jane Puderbaugh of Ozawkie, Kan. On Oct. 8, 1892, he married Mrs. Harriet Hall, the widow of his brother, William N. Hall, who had two children, George and Lottie. These children he accepted as his own and always gave them a good home. Later Mr. and Mrs. Hall adopted Mrs. Lucy Wood who now lives in Marshalltown. Over 40 years ago he secured the home in which they lived at the time of his passing. Thus was signified the steadiness of purpose in life. After about 20 years service in the employee of the Rock Island Railroad Co., in 1905 he suffered an accident in which both limbs were severed, thus crippling him so severely that he could no longer continue the job with the railroad. But this did not keep him from looking after his home and family. He was always a faithful citizen and willing to help others in their trials. Many years ago he and his wife united with the United Brethren church that formerly was located in South Brooklyn.
