He was born Jan 23, 1897, south of Overbrook, the son of William Branson and Sarah Blair Branson. He attended high school at Overbrook and Baker University at Baldwin. He taught grade school several years in the Overbrook area, operated a hatchery near Overbrook for more than 15 years and owned and operated Vassar Elevator from 1948 until he retired in 1973. Mr Branson was director of the First Security Bank in Overbrook since 1943 and was elected chairman of the board of directors in January 1976. He served as charter director of Carbondale State Bank since 1973. He was mayor of Overbrook from 1964 to 1965. He was a member of First United Methodist Church at Overbrook, Ridgeway Lodge No 62, AF & AM, at Overbrook and the Scottish Rite Bodies and Arab Shrine at Topeka. He formerly was a member of the Overbrook Rotary Club. He was married to Virginia Grace Reed, Nov 26, 1920, at Topeka. She died July 31, 1964. Survivors include a sister, Mrs Elsie Karnes, Overbrook, and several nieces and nephews. Services were Saturday at First United Methodist Church at Overbrook. Burial was in Overbrook Cemetery. Graveside services were Sept 8 conducted by the Ridgeway Lodge No 62, AF & AM. Citizen-Times--Sept 13, 1979-pg 5
