Coziah for nearly half a century a resident of Grant and vicinity died Sunday evening at 7 o'clock at his home in Grant, his home in Grant, his death resulting from heart trouble and the effects of paralysis with which he was stricken a few weeks ago. He was born at Rio, Illinois in 1843 and was married to Mary Adams in Kentucky in 1868, going then to Illinois to make his home. Coziah for nearly half a century a resident of Grant and vicinity died Sunday evening at 7 o'clock at his home in Grant, his home in Grant, his death resulting from heart trouble and the effects of paralysis with which he was stricken a few weeks ago. He was born at Rio, Illinois in 1843 and was married to Mary Adams in Kentucky in 1868, going then to Illinois to make his home. There he enlisted for service in the Civil War, serving three years, and at the conclusion of the war he enlisted in the regular army and served several years. He came to Montgomery County, Iowa in 1881 and lived here continuously since that time until his death. He was the father of four children. They are Mrs. Maude Scott and Mrs. Chas Roberts of Grant, Mrs. C. Rusk of Nebraska, and Mrs. Starling of Missouri. He was a member of the United Brethren Church. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Grant, Rev. Clifford Cody, the pastor, having charge of the service, and burial was in the Grant Cemetery.
