He was born Feb. 1, 1910,in Lockman to James Martin and Rose May Barnes Crowder. A resident of Ottumwa most of his life, he had been an employee of the Burlington Northern Railroad and had owned and operated the Deep Rock and Fina station on Madison avenue. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Georgina Brown of Blakesburg Route 1; a grandson, Bob Chastain of Ottumwa; and two sisters, Margaret Hughes and Corrine Crumes of Ottumwa. A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Shaul Cemetery, the Rev. Loyd Osborn of First Foursquare Church officiating. The family will be at Reece Funeral Home 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday. Pallbearers will be Keith Hill, J.W. Reaves, Kenneth Williams, Steve Crumes, Bob Chastain and David Besco. A memorial has been established to First Foursquare Church.
