Houdek, son of William B. and Millie Gabriel Houdek was born near Cuba, Kansas on April 28, 1896 and died Feb. 28, 1974, at Salina, at the age of 77 years and 10 months. He received his education in the Cuba public school and graduated from a business college. He was united in marriage to Agnes G. Navrat on Feb. 3, 1920 and to this union five children were born. Houdek, son of William B. and Millie Gabriel Houdek was born near Cuba, Kansas on April 28, 1896 and died Feb. 28, 1974, at Salina, at the age of 77 years and 10 months. He received his education in the Cuba public school and graduated from a business college. He was united in marriage to Agnes G. Navrat on Feb. 3, 1920 and to this union five children were born. He lived in the Munden community for many years and had lived the past two years in Salina. He was a veteran of World War 1. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Alvin, two grandsons, one great granddaughter, one sister and two brothers. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Georgia Hudson of Belleville, Mrs. Pauline Torbert of Grass Valley, Calif., Mrs. Evelyn Stauffer of Grand Island, Nebr., and Mrs. Anne Hoyt of Belleville, four sisters, Mrs. Dean Walker of Belleville, Mrs. Elsie Wenda of Belleville, Mrs. George Leshosky of Belleville, and Mrs. Helen Schmidt of Wichita, two brothers, Orville Houdek of Wichita, and Bill Houdek of Clyde, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 2, 1974, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Memorial Chapel of Belleville, conducted by the Reverend Alden Longwell. Interment was made in Ida cemetery.
