Pike, one of the early pioneer settlers of Plymouth County (IA) was born on a farm in Columbia County, Ohio, February 10, 1832. In 1846 he moved with his parents to Indiana. Pike, one of the early pioneer settlers of Plymouth County (IA) was born on a farm in Columbia County, Ohio, February 10, 1832. In 1846 he moved with his parents to Indiana. In 1857 they came to Iowa, settling in Page County. Mr. Pike was married to Lacey North while residing in Indiana. He pre-empted land in Page County and lived there for many years. In 1876 he moved to Plymouth County and bought a quarter section of land in Section 10, Preston Township where they lived for seven years. They had seven children: William who lived in Sioux Township; John N. of Hancock Township; Charles of Sioux Township; Elizabeth of Sioux Township; Edward of Valentine, Nebraska; Albert of Crookston, Nebraska; and George W. Pike of Flandreau, SD. Their father was born in Whitley County, Indiana, September 20, 1862 and when two years old came with his parents to Page County. In the fall of 1876 they came to Plymouth County. On December 25, 1880, he was united in marriage to Lydia B. McGuire, of Elk Point, SD. She passed away a few years later leaving two small sons, Charles Clifford (deceased) and George William, who was injured fatally in an automobile accident in 1926. On January 14, 1903, Mr. Pike was united in marriage to Nancy Caroline Allen of Elk Point. They had five children: Helen, Mabel and Bud (Eldwin), who were born in a log cabin on the Larry Weber farm. Iva was born on the Florence Banks farm. Ruby was born in Flandreau, SD. Helen married Joseph Stewart, they have two children, William and Mrs. James Niven. Mabel married Clair McCorkell, they have three children: Edward (deceased), Phyllis Wilson and Gladys Carey. Iva married Howard Powell and had two children: Donald, Rutland, SD, and Margaret Miller, LeMars, IA. Ruby married Ivan Frahm and they had one child, Valda Irene (deceased). The Pike family lived on a farm in Flandreau and moved to LeMars in 1917 where Mr. Pike ran a dray line for a few years. They later moved to a farm north of LeMars, IA. They moved to Akron, IA, on the Clarence Knapp farm, or as it was better know, the old stone house, where he lived until his death on October 19, 1935. Mrs. Pike and Bud moved from the Knapp farm to a farm owned by Ceilly, where they lived for a number of years. Bud then bought the Squire place north of Akron where they lived until ill health forced him to retire, Mrs. Pike passed away February 6, 1973. Bud passed away february 13, 1976."
