His health had not been good for several years and in April, 1906, he went to Colorado for the purpose of restoring it. Read More	Source: Victor Index 12/27/1906 Obituary Weatherbe George W., the son of Jonathan and Mary Baker Weatherbe was born at Bedeque, Prince Edward's Island, Feb. 9, 1844, and died at Fort Collins, CO., Dec. 19, 1906. His health had not been good for several years and in April, 1906, he went to Colorado for the purpose of restoring it. At the age of seventeen he enlisted in Company B of the second Wisconsin cavalry and served four years and two months, receiving an honorable discharge soon after the close of the Civil War. He came to Iowa in 1870, and on March 2nd, 1871, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Sarah A. Carroll Gaumer. She survives with three daughters: Mrs. Fred F. Brenniman and Miss Eva Weatherbe, both of Ft. Collins, CO., and Mrs. Rush H. Bricker of Ladora, IA. He was one of fifteen children in his father's family of whom the following are living: Judge Robert L. of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Joseph of Toronto, Canada, William C., Mrs. Margaret McCord and Mrs. Belle Barnes of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Eva Reid of Charlotte Town, Prince Edward Island, and Mrs. Jennie Bell of Jamestown, NY. The deceased was a loyal citizen as evidenced by his military service and his interest in public affairs thereafter. He was industrious and successful in his vocation. He was a neighborly man, much respected and with many friends who sympathized with him on account of his declining health, and now with us family mourn his death. He was a kind and affectionate husband and father. He was thoughtful as to his physical condition and spent his last days on earth reading religious literature. The funeral services were held in Victor, Dec. 23, at the M. E. Church. Rev. W. N. Hall conducting the services.
