Born in Seneca, SC, he was the son of the late William Earle Seaborn and the late Ruth Kay Seaborn. He was an educator in several counties of South Carolina for over forty years. Read More	PIEDMONT, SC George Wallace Seaborn, 84, of 7001 Highway 81 N., Piedmont, SC, died Thursday, April 29, 2010. Born in Seneca, SC, he was the son of the late William Earle Seaborn and the late Ruth Kay Seaborn. He was an educator in several counties of South Carolina for over forty years. He volunteered into the Air Corps of the U. S. Army in World War II and was recalled into the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Clemson University, where he received the BS degree, and the University of South Carolina, where he received his Masters and EDS degrees. He also studied at Wofford College, Furman University and Vanderbilt University. He retired from Anderson County School District One where he was the superintendent for thirteen years. Prior to that, he served as principal and superintendent in Cherokee County. His first administrative position was principal in Charleston County and prior to that, he taught in Sumter, Marion and Marlboro Counties. During his career, he held a number of positions. He served as president of the South Carolina Association of School Superintendents and also was president of the 4A Principals Association. He was a member of the board of directors of the South Carolina Education Association and was instrumental in securing the site of their headquarters building. He served on the board and later was president of the South Carolina High School League. After retirement, he was elected to the Anderson County Board of Education for three terms. He was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Williamston where he held a number of offices and was a Sunday School teacher. He was very active in the United Methodist Volunteers in Missions where he helped organize the Anderson District Unit. He traveled to a number of foreign countries and to a number of disaster sites in this country with mission UMVIM teams. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Avlona Moore (Pep) Seaborn; two sons, George Wallace Seaborn, Jr., and James Lawrence Seaborn; and three grandchildren, Zachary, Haley and Hannah Seaborn. Four brothers, John (Bodie), William, Robert and Douglas, predeceased him. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Sunday, May 2, 2010, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 3, 2010, at Oconee Memorial Park, 1923 Blue Ridge Boulevard, Seneca.
