In 1942, they moved to Mapleton, Iowa where they continued to farming until later making their home in HOlstein in 1952. Due to health concerns, the couple spent their winters in the warmer climate of Texas and then summers in Iowa for the last 30 years. George enjoyed fishing and traveling. Survivors include his wife, Winifred, their children: George Brown and his wife Phyllis, Robert Brown and his wife Geri, and Elaine Rolls and her husband Wendell, all of Holstein, Iowa; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild; a sister, Verna Phelps at Mount Rose, Colorado, a sister-in-law Dorothy Brown of Arizonia, a brother-in-law Jim Martin of Oregon, plus numberous nieces and nephew
