Crandell was born in Switzerland County, Indiana, March 10, !846, he had been in poor health for some time and on Saturday evening, October 28th, 1916, he passed away, at his home near Angus, at the age of 70 years, 7 months and 18 days. About 30 years ago he moved with his family from the state of Wisconsin to Nuckolls County, where he has since resided. Crandell was born in Switzerland County, Indiana, March 10, !846, he had been in poor health for some time and on Saturday evening, October 28th, 1916, he passed away, at his home near Angus, at the age of 70 years, 7 months and 18 days. About 30 years ago he moved with his family from the state of Wisconsin to Nuckolls County, where he has since resided. When a young man he united with the Christian Church and was baptized in that belief. He married Alice M. Palmer, November 1, 1868. To this union was born six children, Mr. John Crandell of Wymore, Kansas; Mrs. Leona Werner of Wymore, Nebraska; Mrs. Oscar Asmus of Doniphan, Nebr.; Miss Grace Crandell of Angus, Nebr.; one boy and one girl having preceded him to the other world and they also raised from infancy a niece, Mrs. Will Peters of Angus. Besides his wife and children he leaves nine grandchildren, two sisters, four brothers and a host of friends and neighbors to mourn his loss. Mr. Crandell was a loyal member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and Woodmen Lodges and always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.
