DAVIS OF KNIERIM DIES KNIERIM, Jan. 27 – George W. Davis, 72, died Thursday evening at his home in Knierim following a lingering illness. Aulick, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church of Fort Dodge and Trinity Lutheran Church, Knierim, will conduct the rites. Burial will be in Greenfield cemetery near Knierim. Mr. Davis, born Feb. 24, 1876, in Gibson City, Ill., would have observed his 74th birthday next month. Son of the late Simeon and Mary LeRoy Davis, he came to Iowa with his parents in 1892. He was employed on farms in the Manson, Pomeroy and Clare vicinities until his marriage to Miss Grace Alice Vanderhoff of Clare on June 20, 1906. The couple resided near Humboldt for two years and then moved to their own farm between Rockwell City and Knierim. They farmed until 1948, when they retired and moved into Knierim. Surviving him besides his wife are five sons, Carver Davis of Rockwell City, Roy Davis of Central City, Ia., Thomas Davis of Clare and Bob Davis of Los Angeles, Calif. One brother, Michael Davis of West Unity, O., and six grandchildren also survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and four sisters. GEORGE W. DAVIS Dies at Home in Knierim Funeral services were held at Guenther funeral home, Fort Dodge, Sunday afternoon for George W. Davis, 73, retired Calhoun county farmer, who died last Thursday at his home in Knierim. The rites were conducted by the Rev. C. E. Aulick, pastor of Lutheran churches in Knierim and Fort Dodge. Flowers were in charge of Rose Mary Drushella of Clare and Mrs. Henry Markert. Mrs. Don Pieper sang two solos and E. O. Hilman was organist. Mr. Davis was buried in Greenfield Cemetery, Knierim. Pallbearers were Charles Gerth, Charles Zehms, Carl Zell, Jay Teflow, Howard Donahoe and Joe Lahiff. Mr. Davis was born Feb. 24, 1876, at Gibson, Ill., the son of Simeon and Mary Leroy Davis. He came to Iowa in 1892 with his parents. As a young man he was employed on farms near Manson, Pomeroy and Clare. He was married June 20, 1906 in Rockwell City to Grace Alice Vanderhoff of Clare. They lived for a time at Humboldt before moving to their own farm between Rockwell City and Knierim in 1948. Surviving are Mrs. Davis and five sons, Carver of Rockwell City, Roy of Central City, Richard of Fort Dodge, Thomas of Clare and Bob of Los Angeles, Calif.
