Kiser, farmer of the South Side who was stricken with a paralytic stroke some time ago, and since that time had been in failing health, was stricken again, during the past week, from which death resulted Friday evening. George Washington Kiser was born in Cedar co. Iowa, October 28, 1865, the son of Davis and Margaret Kiser. He passed away August 27, 1937, aged 71 years, 9 mos and 29 days. Mr. Kiser grew to manhood in Iowa. Being desirous of seeking his fortune in the west, he went to the Black Hills country, and there entered the employ of the Portland Mines company, and engaged in the mining of gold. While living in the Black Hills, he met and married Mary Vera Vincik in the year of 1900, the marriage taking place at Deadwood, S. D. Ten children were born to this union, John, Margaret, George, William, Mary, Charles, Clara, Anna, Alice and one child died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Kiser and family came to Howard county in 1909 and settled on a farm south of this city, where they have lived ever since. Mr. Kiser, by his industry, and frugality, has gained other farms and has farmed quite extensively. He was a hard-working, industrious, honest, conscientious brother, a kind father and loving husband and an accommodating neighbor. Mr. Kiser was a member of the Masonic Lodge of St. Paul. Those mourning his passing are his wife, Mary, four sons, John of St. Paul; George and William of Ogallala; and Charles at home; five daughters, Mrs. Margaret Kenfied and Mrs. Alice Layher of Omaha; Mrs. Mary Hild of Millard, Mrs. Clara Westphal of Ogallala, and Miss Anna, at home. Besides these there are 15 grandchildren, one brother, Henry, of Casey, Iowa, and numerous other relatives and friends. [Funeral details followed....] Burial was made in Elmwood cemetery, with the ritualistic services by the St. Paul Lodge No. 82, A.F.&A.M.
