SEARS George Washington Sears, son of James A. and Mary Ann Sears, was born Oct. 5, 1857, in Lucas county, Iowa and departed this life at his home in Washington township on Jan. 26, 1945, at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 21 days. He grew to young manhood and spent his entire life in Lucas and Wayne counties. He was united in marriage to Susan Frances Van Benthusen on Nov. 5, 1882. To this union one son, Albert, was born. Mr. Sears was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge for a number of years. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife and son; three grandchildren, Evelyn and Charles of Melrose, and Walter of Russell; two great grandsons, Ivan and Harold of Russell; and other relatives and many friends. He was highly regarded by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Confidence Christian church, conducted by Rev. A. E. Beals, and burial was in the Confidence cemetery.
