Description	:	From the Crossville Cronicle Newspaper, Crossville, TN, July 17, 1912 George W. Tabor died at his home in Crab Orchard early Monday morning from congestive chill superinduced by an attack of malaria. He had been working for Dan Wheeler in the lumber business for some time at Panola, Ala., and was taken sick and suffered a congestive chill. Tabor died at his home in Crab Orchard early Monday morning from congestive chill superinduced by an attack of malaria. He had been working for Dan Wheeler in the lumber business for some time at Panola, Ala., and was taken sick and suffered a congestive chill. He returned home a few days before death and was stricken with another chill which carried him off as stated. The deceased was a half uncle of Mrs. W. C. Keys and has numerous other relatives in the county. His general occupation was that of a builder. He was an active and prominent member of Cumberland Lodge I.O.O.F. and was highly respected by many acquaintances over the county. He was about 42 years of age and had been a resident of this county all his life. The remains were interred at Crab Orchard Monday afternoon under the auspices of the Odd Fellows of his home lodge and others over the country. He leaves a wife and seven children besides numerous relatives. ---------------------------------------------- George Washington Tabor was a builder and a stone mason who constructed many of the buildings in the Crossville, TN, area. He built his own house in Crab Orchard on what is now Main Street between Hebbertsburg Rd. and White Hall Road. The property later housed the "Rock Shop" where Crab Orchard stone was sold. After his death the house that he built continued to be home for his wife, Tyresia, and later also for his son, George Dixie Tabor and his wife and children.
