Description	:	George was born on January 13, 1940 to George and Ina (Guenther) Ferebee in Killdeer, ND. His parents were twins and they married twins. He was the second of nine children. Read More	George was born on January 13, 1940 to George and Ina (Guenther) Ferebee in Killdeer, ND. His parents were twins and they married twins. He was the second of nine children. He grew up in rural Halliday, ND on the family farm and ranch where it instilled his hard work ethic. This perseverance was his strength in life and through his latest journey. He attended first grade at Pioneer country school prior to entering Halliday public school. He graduated from Halliday High School in 1957. George worked his way through college and graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering and in 1974 with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (management emphasis). George worked for Boeing Aircraft Company before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1964. He went to Officer Training School, Squadron Officer Training School, and Air Command and Staff College. He served five years as a Minuteman Missile Crew Commander and fifteen years as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer. He served in places including AL, CA, IL, MI, ND, NE, OK, TX and a tour in Guam. He retired from the service in 1984 as a Lt. Colonel. He had two previous wives and during the first marriage, three sons were born. George realized his lifetime dream of owning his own ranch and raising cattle when he moved to the Deerfield, SD area in 1986. In 1995, he married Carol (Driver) Ferebee. This marriage, for the third time, was a charm and they marked their 25th anniversary in February, 2020. They worked the ranch together and made a great team. When you saw one, you also saw the other. They were inseparable. George was content living on the ranch with Carol and he loved nothing better than ranching there for nearly 34 years. George was an ardent defender of freedom. He was passionate about fairness, justice and the Rule of Law. He was a Pennington County Commissioner from 2015-2018 where he was known as a watchdog and proudly served his constituents. He was a mentor, hero, leader, and friend to many and an inspiration to all. He never quit or weakened, and he worked tirelessly in all that he did. His spirit was unmatched in his dedication to his country and freedom causes to the end. He was never afraid to stand alone, a true patriot, and a real veteran. George was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James; his sister, Dorothy; a stillborn brother, Paul; four brothers-in-law; and numerous aunts and uncles.
