He was the son of Peter and Barbara Wiesmann and husband of Matilda Riester. He had a brass band with his sons. He was a farmer. From a write up on Weisman Family in booklet "Welcome To White Oak" George Weismann was born in 1836 in Germany. He came to America with his parents when he was 10 years old. In 1857 he married Matilda Riester (relative of Albert Riester, grocerer). They purchased a 40-acre farm on Banning Road, and later, additional land on Blue Rock Road. The home was set back on the lane. It was a two-story structure (with "eyebrow windows" on second floor) made of pink brick. The huge kitchen, 30'X50', was separate from the house. Matilda always had a bowl of delicious soup and homemade bread for anyone who came to the house. She was very caring, loving person, but George was a more formal person. He had a very fine look about him, and always carried himself very well. With his goatee and beautiful white hair, he looked like an ambassador. He was very elderly as Ann remembered hi, and he only came out of his bedroom for meals, but everyone stood by his chair until he came to the table and said grace. It was a long lane for the peddler, "Know-whatcha mean", (called because he always used tht expression) to carry his huge valise. It had 5 compartments. Matilda always made a purchase; she especially liked blue gingham to make aprons. Matilda and George had 12 children: 3 girls and 9 boys. The 9 boys formed their own brass band and they entertained for a number of years in and around the area, even in Northside. This was indeed a very talented musical family in a rural area without advantages of formal music school training, but they did take piano lessons.
