Description	:	George W. Ferrin, 89 of Cherokee, died Sunday, April 20 at 12:26 AM in Sioux Valley Memorial hospital in Cherokee following a brief illness. Funeral services are Wednesday, April 23rd at 2 PM at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cherokee. The Rev. Ray Hampton is officiating. Burial be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There is the family prayer service at 1:45 PM at the church on Wednesday. George was born Sept. 19, 1913 in Cherokee to Joseph and Queen Burbank Ferrin. He was married to Opal Clark in 1938 into this union there were four children. He was later married to Pauline Manly on June 12, 1952 Storm Lake. He had farmed until 1941 when he moved to Cherokee. He worked for the Illinois Central Railroad from 1942 until 1954 and the Cherokee Police Department from 1954 until retiring in 1975. He was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, antique furniture and gardening. He was preceding death by his parents, his wife Pauline on Jan. 14, 1997, a son, David in 1980, two brothers Melvin in 1941 and Horace in 1972. He is survived by three children: Dale Ferrin and his wife Janet of Smithville, Missouri; Sharon Sudtelgte and her husband Dale of Remsen; Daniel Ferrin of Cheyenne, Wyoming; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 6 step great-grandchildren and one brother, Orville Ferrin of Cherokee.
