CLYDE KISSELL FUNERAL A LARGE ONE Last week's Leader told of the death of Mrs. Clyde Kissell at her home a mile north and several miles west of Sargent just afternoon Monday, August 19. The funeral was held at the Methodist church in Sargent at two o'clock Friday afternoon, August 23. There was a large attendance of long time friends of Mrs. Kissell and the families affected by her death. All available seats were taken and a few persons were standing. There was a large number of vases and floral pieces of exquisitely beautiful flowers, lilies, asters, and gladioli, predominating. The funeral was directed by Fay W. Spooner and son Robert M. Spooner. Rev. V. R. Bell, pastor of the church, had charge of the religious service s and preached a most comforting funeral sermon. The singing was by a mixed quartette composed of Bernard Brush, Mrs. Grace J. (W. R.) Kidder, Mrs. Leone (Marshall) Shettron, and Jerome B. (Jerry) Coonrad. Mrs. Eva Brown was at the piano. The songs used were "Ivory Palaces," "In The Garden," and "Some Time We'll Understand." The pallbearers were Arthur Probert, William Probert, Robert Probert, Brendan Murray, Leo Hickman and William Skolil. The first four named are nephews of Mrs. Kissell and the last two nephews by marriage. Interment was made in the Sargent cemetery. Georgia Clementine Probert, youngest daughter of George and Margaret Clements Probert, wa s born April 24, 1900, near Sargent, Nebraska. After a prolonged illness, she passed away at her home near West Union August 19, 1940,. at the age of 34 years, three months and 25 days. She attended the Phillipsburg school as a child, and later attended high school in Sargent graduating with the class of 1923. After teaching one term in her home district she attended the State University for two years. She was united in marriage to Clyde M. Kissell at Kearney, Nebraska, September 5th, 1928. To this union two daughters were born, one of whom preceded her in death, the other Eleanor Barbara and her husband survive her. That she was a woman of high ideals, no one will deny. As a wife and mother she was devoted to her home and all its interests. During her long illness she was always patient and thoughtful. She retained a keen interest in friends and events until the very last, and until ill health prevented she was active in community affairs, such as club and church work. She was baptized in the Methodist Church when a girl of fourteen, by Rev. M. W. Rose, and two years later was admitted into full membership by Rev. M. M. Long. Her interest in the church and its work remained strong and she frequently attended even after her health had failed. Besides her husband- and daughter, she is survived by her father Mr. George M. Probert, two brothers, W. L. Probert of Spokane, Washington, and R. E . Probert of Sargent, Nebraska; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Sargent of Colbert, Washington, and Mrs. Effie Evans of Gordon, Nebraska, also many other relatives and a host of friends. At the request of the family, Mrs. E. Niel Goodrich has written the following tribute: Was she ready to live When the summons came Those few short years ago? Whatever she'd touch, it meant so much, She loved life so. Was she ready to serve When the summons came, Whether night or day came the call? She did what she could, as her Saviour would, She gave her all. Was she ready to die When the summons came To accept of Eternal Rest? She is trying to say in her own sweet way God's will is best."
