Daughter of the late Floyd and Margaret (Benson) Wolfe, Georgia was preceded in death by her husband Aloysius "OWL" M. Martin and her oldest "darling daughter" D'Ann M. Caron, as well as her brother Edward Wolfe, her husband's brothers and sisters: Rosie and Ray Madden, Joe Martin, Helene and James McGann, Agnes Barbe, Sylvester "Vesty" and Bonnie Martin, Ursula and "Buzz" Riley, Marty and Tom Moore. She is survived by her youngest "darling daughter" Don'a M. Martin, son-in-law Paul R. Caron, beloved grandchildren Michael A., Stephen J., Laura K., Benjamin R. and Daniel P. Caron, as well as her sisters Mary June Mieszkowski, Rosalee A. (Wolfe) Steele, Gloria "Sandi" Wolfe, brother Floyd "Sonny" Wolfe and his wife Brenda, and sister-in-law Pat Wolfe, her niece/best friend Margaret (McGann) Tam, as well as a plethora of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great- nieces and great-great-nephews! Georgia was an active member of Saint Patrick's parish since the mid-1960s when she and Al moved to their home on North Mechanic Street. She spent incalculable hours organizing the health-room volunteers for Saint Pat's school when her daughters were enrolled, serving at the pancake breakfasts, as part of the grief-support ministry, and countless other endeavors. Her commitment extended to the community of Bishop Walsh High School and continued even after her daughters completed their high school education. Georgia also enjoyed having "lunch with the girls", a small group of women who gathered regularly and weathered life's storms together. She often said what a critical part of her life these wonderful women were. Georgia had a variety of employment experiences but began her life "in politics" after Al died in 1996. She became a member of the Board of Elections, was named Democrat of the year in 2007, and served as the President of the Board for several years. She finally retired at age 79, in fall 2019. Georgia's life revolved around children starting when she was very young, as the oldest child, caring for her brothers and sisters. As her daughters grew up, she organized, volunteered to help with, chaperoned, and attended such a variety of events that she often joked about having "stadium back" from all the basketball and baseball games she attended. With the arrival of her first grandchild, Michael and 18 months later, her second grandchild, Stephen, she and Al established an often traveled "road-route" from Cumberland to Boston, spending as much time there as possible. By the time she was blessed with her remaining grandchildren, triplets, Laura, Benjamin and Daniel, Al had returned to heaven. Her daughter Don'a and she continued the Boston excursions, but mostly by plane. On one occasion, when she arrived, the children announced, "We knew you were coming because we put roses in your room." Georgia's favorite memories came from the vacations that she took with Don'a and D'Ann and her family, especially the cruise to Alaska and Hawaii, and the trips to the beach and Rome and Paris. Georgia often talked of how proud she was of her daughters and grandchildren, emphasizing that she loved each one of them just because they were them! Georgia also assured them that she would continue to watch over them when she and Al were reunited. When Georgia told stories, she would often begin laughing well before the end and her laughter was contagious. Sometimes, people could not even figure out what she was saying but joined in the laughter because they couldn't help it! Her sense of humor and storytelling will be long remembered and sorely missed. Viewings will be private. Friends are welcome to attend the internment at Oliver's Grove Cemetery in Oldtown on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. At a later date, a memorial mass will be held at Saint Patrick's Church with a luncheon at Oliver's Grove in Oldtown.
