Description	:	Georgia Viteria Lechner Schulte McDaniel of Harper, Ks.79, died Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born November 7, 1927 on a farm near Duquoin, Ks. daughter of George and Velma(Norris) Lechner. Georgia attended the Hopewell Elementary School and Adams High School, honored as Valedictorian of her class. Read More	Georgia Viteria Lechner Schulte McDaniel of Harper, Ks.79, died Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital. She was born November 7, 1927 on a farm near Duquoin, Ks. daughter of George and Velma(Norris) Lechner. Georgia attended the Hopewell Elementary School and Adams High School, honored as Valedictorian of her class. On April 9, 1947 she married Lawrence Schulte at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Anthony, Ks. Six children were born to this union. Darlyne (Bornholdt), Martha (McDaniel), Marie (Esping), Rodney, Steven and Regina (Powell). Steven died in 1957 three months prior to his third birthday. Except for a few years in Winfield, the family lived in the Harper area. Even though the marriage ended in the summer of 1960, Georgia remained in Harper to raise her children. As a single mother in the 60's she held her chin up,put a smile on her face, and armed with determination, hard work, creativity, wit, love, family, friends, and a giant of a God, she taugaht her children their greatest lessons in life. Georga was a member and past elder of the First Presbyterian church in Harper and served as member and past president of the American Legion ladies Auxiliary #104. On Saturday nights she loved to play bingo at the Legion, but would be found in the kitchen running the concession to raise funds for the Auxiliary. Her hard working character was shown in the work force as an employee at several restaurants, Isenhower Cleaners, Harper Hospital, Home Care Worker for SRS as well as babysitting and sewing for others. With the children raised, she continued her education either by teaching herself or taking classes of special interest including woodworking, cake decorating, flower arranging, line dancing and accounting. Even though she was an excellent seamstress, she even took sewing classes to keep up to date on new techniques. Throughout this time she also received the honor of being "Grandma Georgie". The worlds best grandkids were always welcomed with open arms as well as open range in the snack department. They also enjoyed Grandma Georgie's rides in the little red wagon, her toy box, and the snappy tunes that bellowed from her favorite accordion. It was a special treat at birthday time for Grandma Georgie to play Happy Birthday just for you. On December 15, 1979 Georgia married Clyde McDaniel at the Presbyterian Church in Harper, Ks. His children were then welcomed into her life. "Aunt George" was also loved by her many nieces and nephews who never hesitated to stop in and visit anytime knowing full well Aunt George would always listen and share her time with them. she was preceded in death by her son Steven, Lawrence, her parents, her brother Delbert Lechner, sisters Betty Patriia Lechner, Judy Crouch and Geneva Dies, grandson Christopher Schulte, Clyde and stepson, Michael mcDaniel. Survivors include her children, Darlyne (Don) Bornholdt, Martha (Dennis) McDaniel, Marie (Greg) Esping all of Harper, Rodney (Mary Ann) Schulte, of Wichita and Regina (Jim) Powell of caldwell, one brother, Lindy (Leona) Lechner 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, many favorite nieces and nephews and a host of family members and friends.
